Mexican Chargé d'Affaires in Cairo:

Relations with Egypt go beyond official diplomacy to close human and cultural ties

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Mexican Embassy in Cairo, Héctor Agustín Ortega, affirmed the depth of the historical and popular relations uniting Egypt and Mexico, noting that the enduring friendship between the two countries does not stop at pride in their respective ancient history and civilization, but relies on a close partnership and ties currently being built and developed.

This came during a reception hosted by the Mexican Embassy in Cairo on the occasion of the 216th anniversary of the outbreak of the national independence revolution. The event was attended by senior Egyptian officials, heads and members of diplomatic missions accredited to Egypt, a select group of public figures, representatives of the Mexican community residing in Egypt, and senior press and media figures.

Ortega explained that the rapprochement between Cairo and Mexico City is not built solely within the halls of ministries and official offices, but relies fundamentally on human ties and direct communication between the two peoples. He highlighted the significant similarities in social values, chief among them warm hospitality, family solidarity, and pride in national identity as well as cultural and artistic heritage.

The Chargé d'Affaires added that celebrating this national occasion on Egyptian soil reflects the strength of the cultural and human bridges between the two countries despite geographical distance. He expressed his deep appreciation for the support and care extended to the diplomatic mission and the Mexican community in Egypt, highly valuing the efforts of community members in representing their country and portraying its cultural image, while looking forward to fostering further cultural and economic exchange initiatives in the upcoming period.
