Arab League chief congratulates Morocco on elections, appointment of Mansouri as PM

Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, expressed his sincere congratulations to the Kingdom of Morocco, King, government and people, on the occasion of the successful legislative elections held in the Kingdom, expressing his appreciation for what they reflected in terms of keenness to continue enhancing participation in public life.

The Secretary-General also congratulated Ms. Fatima Zahra Mansouri on the confidence bestowed upon her by His Majesty King Mohammed VI with her appointment as Head of Government and tasking her with forming the new government, in accordance with the constitutional provisions of the Kingdom.

Fahmy wished Ms. Mansouri success in carrying out her duties and responsibilities and in serving the interests of the Kingdom of Morocco and achieving the aspirations of the Moroccan people, affirming that her assumption of the head of government, as the first woman to hold this position in the history of the Kingdom, represents a prominent milestone in the journey of Moroccan and Arab women, and reflects the advanced and active presence they have achieved in public life and in positions of responsibility and decision-making, and the increasing role they play in contributing to the process of development and national building.

The Secretary-General expressed his aspiration to continue cooperation and coordination with the new Moroccan government in a way that enhances joint Arab action and serves Arab interests, wishing the Kingdom of Morocco and its people further progress, development and prosperity.
