Libyan Ambassador Denounces Israeli Finance Minister's Remarks on Egypt, Affirms Full Support for Cairo's Sovereignty

The Ambassador of the State of Libya to Egypt expressed his strong condemnation of the recent statements issued by the Israeli Minister of Finance, which included insults to the Arab Republic of Egypt and threats affecting its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity.

In a press statement today, the Libyan Ambassador affirmed that Egypt is a sovereign state, and that Sinai is purely Egyptian Arab land, stressing that any talk that touches upon Egypt's sovereignty or threatens its territories is rejected and condemned, and cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

The Ambassador said: "What was issued by the Israeli minister does not serve peace and stability in the region, nor does it align with the responsibility that political officials are supposed to uphold, and it also represents a departure from the requirements of international relations and respect for the sovereignty of states."

He added that Libya stands by Egypt, leadership and people, in defending its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity, affirming that Egypt's security and stability are an integral part of the security and stability of the entire Arab homeland.

The Ambassador pointed out that the Libyan people, who have historically stood by their brothers in Egypt, remember with great appreciation the shared stances and sacrifices that brought the two peoples together in facing challenges and defending the causes of the Arab nation.

He stressed that Sinai is not a subject for bargaining or threats, and that history has proven that rights and sovereignty are not seized by statements nor imposed by force, calling for resorting to the language of reason and mutual respect, and to refrain from provocative statements that would increase tension in the region.

At the conclusion of his statement, the Ambassador affirmed that Egypt will remain a pivotal Arab state, and that Libya stands with full clarity by Egypt and its people, and affirms its full respect for its sovereignty, territorial unity, and national security.
