Egypt Deploys "Chat Egypt" AI Platform to Combat Misinformation and Streamline Official Verification

In a strategic move to safeguard public awareness and counter the rapid spread of misinformation, Egypt has officially launched "Chat Egypt"—an advanced, artificial intelligence-driven platform designed to monitor, analyze, and refute rumors. Unveiled at the Egypt Forum 2026, which commenced on Monday, the platform serves as a centralized digital ecosystem dedicated to tracking and verifying circulating claims using data directly sourced from official state channels.

Structured for seamless accessibility, the platform is divided into four distinct sections: News, Awareness, Statistics, and Citizen Inquiries. By leveraging cutting-edge AI capabilities, Chat Egypt can analyze multi-format media—including text, images, and videos—placing them within their correct chronological timelines and factual frameworks. According to the cabinet's Media Centre, this technological edge enables authorities to detect misleading content, deepfakes, and media manipulation at an early, preemptive stage.
The platform’s backbone relies on robust inter-institutional coordination involving ministries, government bodies, and provincial governorates. Each entity is empowered to input verified data within its specific domain of competence, ensuring that public falsehoods are met with rapid, authoritative corrections. To date, over 21,000 data entries have been integrated into the system, supplemented by daily official media statements.
Despite its sophisticated capabilities, the platform maintains clear institutional boundaries. A formal disclaimer on the Chat Egypt website notes that its automated responses may occasionally contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Furthermore, the system's outputs do not legally replace official documents, binding laws, or formal government decrees, imposing no legal liability on the Information and Decision Support Centre or its affiliates. Users are consistently advised to cross-reference critical details with official legislation and competent state authorities prior to making major decisions.
