Arab League Strongly Condemns Human Rights Violations Against Gaza Detainees in Ramla Prison
Amr Yehia

The League of Arab States expressed its strongest condemnation and denunciation of the human rights violations and repeated and systematic acts of repression to which the detainees from the Gaza Strip held in the "Rakifit" section of Ramla prison are subjected, which have resulted in injuries and burns to a number of detainees.
The League of Arab States warned of the seriousness of these practices, considering them a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols, the Convention against Torture, and the Basic Principles for the Treatment of Prisoners. It affirms that such acts constitute crimes against humanity that require accountability.
The League of Arab States demanded an immediate halt to any repressive practices or abuse against Palestinian detainees, ensuring their treatment in accordance with international human rights standards and international humanitarian law, enabling the International Committee of the Red Cross and independent monitoring bodies to visit Ramla prison and the "Rakifit" section without restrictions, documenting conditions and providing necessary medical care to the injured, opening an independent and transparent international investigation into these violations, holding those responsible accountable, the immediate release of sick and wounded detainees, and an end to all forms of arbitrary detention.
The League of Arab States renews its affirmation of the centrality of the Palestinian cause in joint Arab action, and its full solidarity with Palestinian detainees and their families, and calls on the international community, the Human Rights Council, and the United Nations General Assembly to assume their responsibilities in protecting Palestinian civilians and detainees, and to end the policy of impunity.
