Amr Yehia
Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, affirmed in press statements addressing the results of his participation in the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, that the Sudanese crisis occupied an important part of the meetings and consultations he held on the sidelines of the General Assembly, including his talks with leaders of states, senior officials, and foreign ministers of a number of international and regional powers.

He pointed out that the Sudanese state, with its deep-rooted national institutions, has shown, despite the harshness of the crisis, a great deal of resilience and continuity. He added that the return of about five million displaced persons and refugees since last year to their areas and homes in the capital Khartoum and its surroundings imposes increasing responsibilities to provide basic services, rehabilitate facilities, and create the necessary conditions for a safe and sustainable return and the restoration of normal life, stressing in this context the necessity of enhancing the capacity of Sudanese state institutions to face the grave challenges created by the war.
The Secretary-General stressed that any sustainable settlement of the crisis must start from respect for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and adherence to the unifying national identity and the foundations of the Sudanese state and its institutions, as the framework that accommodates all components, and rejection of any attempts to undermine them or create parallel entities to them.
He explained that the current stage requires working in parallel on stopping the fighting, addressing the humanitarian situation, launching political action, and addressing the polarizations left by the war.
The Secretary-General renewed the League of Arab States' commitment to continue working and coordinating with the Sudanese state and regional and international partners in order to stop the war and create conditions for launching a comprehensive Sudanese political track that achieves the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, peace, and stability.
